Brother and Sister Olaplex Bonding

Calling all Elsas… This long hair, don’t care moment is brought to you by stylist Brian Borg of the Ramirez Tran Salon and his younger sister Jana. Jana is a regular bleach and tone. In order to keep her snowy Rapunzel hair in fabulous shape, she depends on her brother Brian for healthy hair cuts and styling plus regular at home Olaplex No. 3 treatments.

Jana said, “I never thought I’d see the day when my brother would doing my hair.” Lucky for us, Brian invited Olaplex in on one of those days for an epic styling session! Borg is an exceptional stylist known for his effortlessly cool styling which you can find on Instagram @b_borg.

For this tutorial you’ll learn how to recreate one of Brian’s signature wave looks, the Soft Wave, and how to use Olaplex No. 2 to make the styling process easier for you and healthier for your client!

Shampoo thoroughly only on the scalp and rinse until shampoo has been removed from the hair. Always double check the nape area. Next, condition from mid-shaft to ends, then rinse.

Towel dry the hair, getting as much moisture out as possible.

Pump a small amount of Olaplex No.2 into the palm of your hand. The amount will vary depending on how much hair your client has, so use your best judgement. Apply the treatment mid-shaft through the ends of the hair, combing through for even saturation.

Apply your favorite heat protectant then proceed with the blow out. Brian likes to rough dry the hair to get more of the moisture out before he begins smoothing and explains that some textures can be rough dried up to 95% before smoothing. “On super fine hair I would use less products and rough dry almost completely, only smoothing the very ends of the hair.”

Once smoothing is complete, style accordingly with hot tools. For this look in particular, Brian went for a soft wave.

“After smoothing out the hair, I then go in with any hot tools (flat irons, curling irons) to finish off the look with whatever products I might find necessary. The waves I did here were done using a 1” 1/4” marcel curling iron, but can be done with any kind of curling iron. The bigger the barrel, the better.

I start in the front and section the hair into 3 sections starting at the bottom and working my way up. You’ll want to press the barrel to the underside of the section at the top of the shaft and hold for a couple of seconds depending how hot the iron is. Then, move down the hair shaft just bellow the indention and bring the iron up over the hair and press down and hold for a couple of sections. Follow these steps through out the rest of your sections and finish with products. Lastly, shake out the hair with your hands to break it up and add volume.” says Borg.
